Paperclay Sculpting
with Christine Pike, MA
Have you ever wanted to learn to sculpt but felt intimidated by lack of knowledge, or daunted by the prospect of having to invest in expensive equipment?
Christine Pike has devised a series of workshops using an air-dry, paper-based sculpting material that will help kickstart your creativity and enable you to start making work you can be proud of!
These short day courses are offered as in-person workshops and numbers will be kept strictly limited to make sure everyone gets sufficient attention.
Workshops are held in the charming Norfolk market town of Downham Market - either at Christine's studio, or at the Downham Heritage Centre. Both are a short walk from the railway station and have free parking nearby.
Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own packed lunch.
Costs include all materials.

No need for a kiln
-
finished work is strong and durable

You can make your own recipe at home!
In this workshop you will learn how to make Paperclay. You will discover how the material behaves and practice by making two bird sculptures* - you can try different techniques on each one.
*You will take home the unpainted birds and stand with instructions how to finish them.

For those with a little experience working with Paperclay.
Make a contemporary-style hare or a decorative wall mask. Or bring your own ideas!
I will guide you to what is achievable in a one-day workshop.

For experienced sculptors who really want to push their skills! Make a figure - which can be articulated, if you wish. Work from your own ideas and imagination.
This workshop is open-ended: I suggest booking at least two sessions to explore your ideas and get started with the construction. Further sessions can be booked as needed, including half-day workshops.
